Budget Session 2023: President Murmu Shares Government’s Vision For Indian Women
Should have addressed the women's issues too!The budget session is always an important one for the citizens as the government lays down its plans for the new financial year. A budget that caters to every section of society is considered to be a good one. And its first Parliamentary joint session happened on January 31, Tuesday. President, Droupadi Murmu addressed her first Parliamentary joint session. She spoke on many topics that related to India’s growth. Droupadi Murmu also talked about the women of the country, and what the government has been doing for them. Also, shed some light on the vision that the government has for the country’s women and youth.

President Droupadi Murmu spoke about her government’s decisive nature that led to so many revolutionary changes in the country. She referred to the Triple Talaq decision among others. For the unversed, in a historic decision by the Supreme Court in 2017, the triple talaq practise that takes place in the Muslim community was abolished. President Murmu gave this as an example of one of the major decisions made by her government for the welfare of women.

President, Droupadi Murmu also highlighted the government’s efforts in making schemes that primarily gave importance to women’s empowerment. Taking the success of Beti Bachao, Beti Badho, as an example, she backed up her point. Droupadi Murmu also shed some light on the better health conditions of women in the country.

During her first joint parliamentary session speech, the President also shared the government’s vision for the country’s youth and women. She said that they strive to make an India, where women and youth set an example for not just the country but the world.

Also, on the first day of the Budget session, the country’s finance minister,, Nirmala Sitharaman presented the economic survey for the financial year 2023.

The President did mention the better conditions for women in the country but she should have also addressed the growing crime rates against women in India. There are also many concerns and issues that women continue to face in the country which need to be addressed at the earliest. The upcoming budget will be important for Indian women.
