While reportedly conversing with ANI, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that while everyone, including himself, enjoys standup comedy, it is no right to violate social boundaries or limits of dignity in pursuit of entertainment. He added that doing so will amount to injustice against people. He expressed the feeling that stand-up comedy should be performed with due regard for at least the minimum parameter of dignity. For the unversed, in one of Pranit More’s stand-up shows, Himanshu Jangra revealed that he had paid for the food during the date and he needed a “return” on his investment via physical intimacy. Another controversy involving the comedian and Dr Sejal Pawar erupted when she confessed to joking about the male corpse’s private part on his show.

According to a report by Telegraph, an official revealed on Thursday that Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra were summoned by Maharashtra cyber police after the two were booked for allegedly disseminating objectionable content on social media. As part of the preliminary probe, after looking at the viral clips from his show, where Himanshu narrated his Rs 370 biryani date story, the authorities lodged a case at the Nodal Cyber Police Station. The official also mentioned that police raised concerns over clips that included Dr Sejal Pawar’s comments on the deceased male bodies, calling those remarks inappropriate and disrespectful. It’s also worth noting that the National Commission of Women (NCW) has reportedly summoned Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra.
