We all wait for the Mumbai monsoons to arrive, but well, this season is not for the faint-hearted. For days, it keeps pouring, making everyday life very difficult. This year, the monsoons arrived late, despite it having been raining like cats and dogs. Various advisories have been issued by the authorities, and the citizens have been asked to stay indoors. Here are some of the latest updates on the same.
Red Alert In The City
Taking into consideration the extreme weather conditions in Mumbai, the India Meteorological Department issued a ‘Red’ alert in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts. The department has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfalls.
Mumbai-Pune Expressway Updates
The authorities have asked citizens to avoid the Mumbai-Pune express highways after landslide incidents were reported. Many horrifying videos also surfaced on social media. The highway has been severely affected, and it has been closed from both sides until further notice. Work is in progress to start the normal commute on the highway. Some Mumbai-Pune trains have also been cancelled.
Advisory For Offices, Schools, Colleges
Schools and colleges have been given a holiday. As per the latest announcement, the officials have also advised private offices to work from home. The government and semi-government offices have been asked to give a half-day in the afternoon, except for essential services.

Flight Delays
Many airlines have also issued an advisory to their passengers on travel guidelines. Due to the bad weather conditions, many flights have also been delayed, and therefore the passengers have been asked to check their flight’s status.
Dabbawala Service Suspended
As per a TOI report, the Mumbai Dabbawalas Association has informed that their services have been suspended due to difficult commuting conditions, and that the Western Railway services were also halted.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued strict guidelines for construction sites to ensure the safety of the workers.
