Met Gala 2026: Fake Urine Bottles Discovered Inside Museum, Activists’ Bold Protest Against Jeff Bezos Explained

The Met Gala took place on May 5, Tuesday, IST and it gave a lot of moments to talk about. While the dazzling gowns and stunning makeup looks created massive buzz, one unusual act caught everyone’s attention. Protesters secretly hid fake urine bottles inside the museum. The strange protest left many wondering about the reason behind it. Read on to know all about it.

Why Protestors Targeted Jeff Bezos By Hiding Fake Urine Bottles Inside Museum

As per reports, days before the big event, activists placed more than 300 small bottles of fake urine around the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The bottles were not real and only had water mixed with food colouring. The group did this to make a strong point.

The activists were upset because Jeff Bezos was one of the main sponsors of the gala. They wanted to draw attention to old complaints against his company, Amazon. In the past, some workers said they were forced to pee in bottles because they could not take enough breaks. Amazon has denied these claims. Still, the protesters believed it was wrong to honour Jeff Bezos at such a big event. They shared videos on social media showing how they placed the bottles inside the museum. In their posts, the group wrote that Amazon avoids paying millions in taxes while Jeff Bezos is one of the richest people in the world. They said the museum was making a bad choice by letting him host the gala.

The protest created a lot of talk online. Some people supported the activists for speaking about workers’ rights. Others felt it was not the right way to protest and spoilt the spirit of the event.

This year’s Met Gala had big names leading it. Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour were the co-chairs. Jeff Bezos and his partner Lauren Sánchez were the honorary chairs.
