In A Case Reminiscent Of Dahaad, 82 Girls Missing From Pune Prompts Maha Women’s Panel Chief To Seek Investigation

Crimes against women are increasing day by day and each case turns out to be more horrifying than the last. You must have been reading about missing women’s cases as well and also must have seen posters and pictures of missing women where the family is trying to find them. And often such missing woman’s cases go stale after a while because the police cannot find new leads as to trace them. But it looks like the Maharashtra state’s Women’s Commission head, Rupali Chakankar is determined to bring a change in way the the missing women’s cases have been handled. She recently said that police must be included in the committee set up to investigate these cases.

As per reports, Maharashtra State Women’s Commission Chief, Rupali Chakankar, addressed a press conference at the Branda office on May 15 where she said that there was a need to include police in the committee that investigates the missing women’s cases. She said that if not the police, who will make sure that the committee is working?

Rupali Chakankar also gave statistical data on the number of women who have gone missing. She went on to say that 82 women residing in Pimpri Chinchwadwho have gone to foreign countries have had no contact with their families! She also aded that a staggering 3,594 women have gone missing between January 1 to 31.

Chakankar elaborated that the state women’s commission has been writing to the national commission and other agnecies to know if there has been any progress in the missin women’s cases. Rupali Chakankar also went on to say that the home department also has been asked to give reports to the state commission about the women who have gone missing.
