Jwala Gutta Slams Tarun Tahiliani For Outfits Worn By Indian Athletes At The Paris Olympic 2024
Badminton player Jwala Gutta took to her Twitter account to comment on the outfits that Indian athletes wore at the Paris Olympics 2024. It has been designed by the famous Indian designer Tarun Tahiliani but the outfits have not left a strong impression on the Indians. Jwala Gutta called the garments “a huge disappointment”. As per her latest tweet, she had high expectations from the designer. She explained the problems with the garments, especially for female athletes who didn’t know how to wear a saree. Jwala Gutta stated that the designer should have designed a pre-draped saree and wrote that the blouses looked uncomfortable. Jwala Gutta further criticised the colours and prints used for the outfits. The badminton player, Tarun Tahiliani lost the golden opportunity of representing India’s art, culture and embroidery on the global stage through the outfits. She labelled it as “absolute mediocrity and shabby”. The last line of her tweet read, “I really hope the sports family stops compromising on quality for our sportspersons looks on court and off court!!!!”

For the unversed, Jwala Gutta is a badminton player who has represented India in many international events. She also won a bronze medal in World Championship, 2011 held in London. She won a gold for India in the Commonwealth Games, in 2010.
