After the trailer of Rani Mukerji’s Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway dropped, many people became aware of the true incident that inspired the film’s story. We all got to know the problems faced by immigrant parents and also how common it is, but rarely make headlines. Another similar case has recently surfaced where the parents have lost their child’s custody to German authorities since 2021. They have ultimately approached the Indian authorities to help them out in this distressing situation.
The Indian parents held a press conference to put forth their ordeal and appeal to the higher authorities to help them get their child back. The parents said that their child has been away from them for the past one and a half years. The child was taken by German child services in 2021 on grounds of sexual abuse by parents. The distressed Indian parents informed that they had once taken their daughter to the doctor after she had suffered some injuries in her private parts, however after the follow-up check-up, the doctor informed the police suspecting it to be sexual abuse case. The parents had proved themselves innocent after going through the legal and medical examination processes.
As per the news, the Indian parents also informed that later the German Child Services lodged a case against them on grounds of bad parenting. The child services refused to give the child custody saying that the parents failed to discipline the child and that she also had attachment issues. The parents also said that the German authorities are not letting their child learn any Indian language and have also declined their request of meeting the child a little more often.

The Indian parents have now appealed to PM Narendra Modi and foreign minister S.Jaishankar to intervene in the matter and help them get the child’s custody.
