India’s Smriti Mandhana Nominated For ICC’s T20 Cricketer Of The Year

Cricket is followed like a religion in India. The craze for the sport in our country is heartwarming and astonishing at the same time. Cricket fans are not following men’s cricket but also women’s. The cricketing fraternity also has an awards function where male and female cricketers are awarded for their performances in T20 and One Day International matches. The winner gets named the Cricketer Of The Year! The nominations for the same have been dropped by International Cricket Council on their official Instagram handle on December 29, 2022. Here are more details on the same.

ICC female cricketers’ nominations

The four female cricketers that are nominated in the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year category are as follows:

Smriti Mandhana: The Indian all-rounder has laid 23 matches and scored 594 runs. She also is the first Indian female cricketer to score the fastest 50 (she scored the half-century in just 23 balls!)

Nida Dar: The Pakistani player has played 16 matches, scored 396 runs and taken 15 wickets. Currently, she holds the title of the second-highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is.

Sophie Devine: This Kiwi player has scored 389 runs in 14 matches and taken 13 wickets. She led the New Zealand team to victory 11 out of 14 times.

Tahlia McGrath: This Australian player has scored 435 runs in 16 matches. She made her debut in the field in October 2021. She was also voted as the  ICC Women’s Player of the Month for August 2022.

Shabnim Ismail: This South African player has taken 37 wickets from 17 matches so far. Her stellar performance at the World Cup this against Ireland’s team will always be remembered.

Amelia Kerr: This New Zealand player has played 18 matches and taken 676 runs and 17 wickets.
