Imagine you’ve been constipated; however, you finally go to the washroom, but while pooping, you strain so hard that after coming out of the toilet, you lose your memory. Sounds scary, but something similar reportedly happened with a woman in Hong Kong who lost 10 years of memory after straining too hard while popping. The good thing is that after her diagnosis and treatment, she was able to regain her memory. Know all about the case below!
Did Woman Lose 10 Years of Memory After Pooping?
A story about the Hong Kong woman surfaced on Instagram, which was shared on an account by the name of Psychological. The women reportedly had been constipated for more than two weeks. After she went to use the washroom, she was said to have suffered from “metal blackout” as reportedly described by the doctors. It was said that for almost 8 hours she was not able to recall around 10 years of her life. After witnessing her condition, the woman’s family members rushed to the hospital. The doctors performed a brain scan, which reportedly showed no abnormalities. However, she was later diagnosed with Transient Global Amnesia.

What Is Transient Global Amnesia?
As mentioned in News18’s report, Transient Global Amnesia, also known as TGA, is a temporary condition that results in a sudden episode of memory loss. It is believed by the experts that the woman in this case strained excessively, which may have reduced the blood flow and oxygen supply to her brain, potentially because of issues involving the jugular valves. As per the report, in some cases intense physical exertion can briefly interfere with oxygen flow, resulting in confusion or memory issues.
When it comes to said case, the woman thankfully regained her long-term memory gradually after spending the night in the hospital. However, she reportedly never regained the memory of the incident that triggered it. It’s worth mentioning that this case reportedly dates back to 2019 and most recently started going viral
