You all must have heard the proverb, ‘as you sow, so shall you reap’, haven’t you? And the disgraced Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein, is living the true meaning of this proverb. He is serving a 23-year jail term after the horrible sexual crimes he committed against several women in New York. The latest development, in this case, was a European model coming forward to seek punitive damages for raping her in her hotel room in 2013. Convicting him of his crime against her, the Los Angeles court has added another 16 years of prison sentence to his already long term.
As per reports, Judge Lisa Lench at the LA court ordered that Harvey Weinstein will finish his new 16-year sentence after he finishes the ongoing 23-year punishment. Weinstein raped the model, inserted foreign objects in her body and forced oral sex on her. The ongoing punishment is regarding the sexual crimes he was convicted of in New York.
But the 70-year-old producer pleaded for mercy in court. He begged the court to not sentence him to life in prison because he does not “deserve” it. He also went on to say that there are many things wrong with this case. Weinstein’s lawyers are planning to file an appeal against this new sentence.
The model, whose identity is not revealed for obvious reasons, is addressed as Jane Doe 1, said that Harvey Weinstein’s ‘disgusting’ and ‘selfish’ acts have impacted her life. She further added that no amount of life sentence can undo the damage he has done to her.

The allegations of sexual assault and sexual abuse against Weinstein came to light in 2017 after New York Times journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey reported them. This led to the start of the #MeToo movement on social media where several women came out to talk about the sexual harassment they faced at their workplaces.
It is people like Harvey Weinstein who abuse their position of power by taking advantage of women. And now, he is rightly paying for it.
