Before the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Indian fans waited eagerly for news of an official streaming partner. They wanted to watch their favourite teams and players live without missing any action. When Zee5 announced it would stream the tournament in India, many felt excited and signed up quickly. Yet, once the event began, the joy turned to disappointment as many faced problems that spoilt the experience and led to widespread anger on social media. Read on!

During the opening ceremony and the first game, many people experienced lagging streams, sudden freezes, login issues, and poor video quality. Others wondered why the advertised 4K viewing option did not work, even though they were promised a high-quality experience. These technical glitches left fans feeling let down at a big moment.

I subscribed to the World Cup Pack because it was advertised as supporting 3 devices, allowing my family to share the subscription. After payment, the device limit was changed to 1 device only.

Not just this, many felt the Rs 799 cost was high since they bought the service only for the World Cup and not for other Zee5 shows.

One user wrote, “Not gonna pay a single rupee to Zee5 for their shitty stream. Gonna enjoy it in 4K for free.” Another user wrote, “Zee5 subscribers realising Illegal sites are streaming better quality than Zee5.”

For the unversed, Zee5 faced heavy backlash from fans across the country even before the match began. Some early buyers noticed that the Rs 799 package, which promised access on three devices, suddenly worked on only one screen. After fans complained strongly online, the platform quickly fixed the issue and restored the three-device option.
