Know About The Women Behind ISRO’s Successful Moon Landing Of Chandrayaan-3
This is a proud moment for all of us!
Today is a big day for India as we await some positive news about the ISRO Chandrayaan-3 moon landing. Unlike Chandrayaan 2, this time the mission is led by a group of male scientists and engineers. The historic mission Chandrayaan-2 had two women in important positions of power and control but this time it is different as the project is headed by a larger number of male scientists and engineers. However, many women have also contributed to this mission but their names are not likely to pop up on headlines. These women became the pillars of Chandrayaan 3 and their hard work deserves recognition!
On August 23, Wednesday Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) finally announced that Chandrayaan-3 was ready for its final moon landing and since then the Indians have been waiting for the updates. This time the mission is spearheaded by the Mission director Mohan Kumar and the Vehicle/Rocket Director is Biju C. Thomas. However, there has been a significant contribution by female engineers and scientists too. As per the information shared by an ISRO official, approximately 56 female engineers and scientists at different centres took responsibility in various departments as project directors and managers.
Chandrayaan-3 Mission:
All set to initiate the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS).
Awaiting the arrival of Lander Module (LM) at the designated point, around 17:44 Hrs. IST.Upon receiving the ALS command, the LM activates the throttleable engines for powered descent.

On the other hand, Chandrayaan-2 was a mission that was led by two women- Ritu Karidhal Srivastava and M.Vanitha. The Chandrayaan-2 unfortunately did not give the expected results but the two project directors received much recognition and appreciation for their work. This time, the male and female ratio is quite different, as there is are more number of male officials involved in this mission.

Many celebrities have wished ISRO’s successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon and right now all of us are waiting for further updates. Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan also said during an interview that she will be watching the live telecast of the moon landing.

And the much-awaited news of the Chandrayaan-3 moon landing was announced at 6 in the evening. ISRO proudly announced the rover’s landing on moon’s south pole and became the first country ever to do so. And this is the most historic moment we have all been waiting for.
