Did You Know Baba Vanga Predicted A Tsunami Would Hit Japan On July 5? More Details Inside!

A wave of fear is washing over Japan as a prophecy in a decades-old manga is going viral on the internet, foretelling a huge catastrophe that will hit Japan on July 5. The allegation, made in 2021 manga The Future I Saw by Japanese manga artist Ryo Tatsuki, has caused insane speculation and even caused some tourists to cancel trips to Japan this week.

What Is The Baba Vanga Prediction For Japan?

Tatsuki, sometimes referred to as the Baba Vanga of Japan, gained a reputation for her uncannily accurate predictions after her comic accurately referenced the 1995 Kobe earthquake and 2011 Tohoku tsunami disaster. In her manga, she warned that a calamity in the future would break open the seabed off Japan and the Philippines, sending waves three times bigger than the 2011 tsunami.

To add to the anxiety, on July 3 a 5.5 magnitude earthquake hit Japan’s Tokara Islands, two days before the date specified in the manga, raising fears that the fictional prophecy may have real-world implications.

Scientists are now pointing to real geological activity in the area that cannot be dismissed. Scientists tracking the Nankai Trough, a deep sea fault zone along the southern coast of Japan, have detected slow-slip earthquakes, silent, surface-boneless shudders that can indicate increased stress in the fault. These deep movements, while not noticeable on the surface, have been associated with the buildup leading up to massive seismic events.

The Nankai Trough has historically produced great megaquakes every 100 to 200 years, the previous one taking place in 1946 with an over 8.0 magnitude. Japan’s Earthquake Research Committee says there is currently an 82% chance of a quake measuring 7 or greater in this area within the next 30 years, an increase from a previous 75% prediction.

The panel also estimates that such a disaster could result in nearly 300,000 deaths and cause damage worth over 2 trillion.
