Crimes against women have taken a turn for the unimaginable worse in the recent past. From murdering women and chopping their bodies up to family members raping minors, the heinous crimes against women send a chill down our spines. Just as we are recovering from sich horrible crime news, another one has come to light. Two men in Delhi’s Dwarka area threw acid at a 17-year-old schoolgirl. A video of the same has gone viral on social media as well.
Outrage has been pouring in from people on social media and there are conversations going around about how is acid so loosely available. BJP minister Gautam Gambhir also took to his Twitter handle to express shock over this acid attack and said that the perpetrators should be ‘publicly executed’.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, Gautam Gambhir wrote that words cannot do justice to the crime that has taken place. He also went on to call the acid attackers ‘animals’ and wrote that a fear of ‘immeasurable pain’ has to be instilled in them. Lastly, he also wrote that the boy who threw acid on the schoolgirl should be ‘publicly executed’ by the authorities.
But Twitter users were irked with his tweet and, in turn, went on to comment that public execution is not allowed in our country. While Twitter users also went on to point out how is acid so easily available in markets.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also took to his Twitter handle to condemn this act of crime. He wrote that this is absolutely unacceptable and also that how can they dare to commit this crime? He further wrote that criminals should get the strictest punishments.
But a point to note here is that capital punishment has never stopped criminals from committing the crime. Because there is no fear of punishment criminals feel bold enough to pursue such horrible crimes.
