Women’s safety has become a joke in our country. During a recent protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, a female journalist was allegedly assaulted, resulting in outrage from the public. Vivek Bhagat Steps Aside From Promotion: Reports
Vivek Bhagat, who was serving as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Connaught Place, recently received a promotion. He was promoted to the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police. The Delhi government has released the names of 12 DANIPS officers who were promoted to the new position. One of them was Vivek Bhagat, and these names were approved by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu. However, as per an official statement by the Delhi Government, Vivek Bhagat has formally requested the authorities to remove his name from the promotion list. This comes amid the ongoing s*xual assault case against him by the female journalist. He has requested to not resume his new duties till the investigation into the matter reaches a satisfactory conclusion.
The authorities will go ahead with the 11 police officers who have received the promotion, and a revised order will be released soon, as per a TOI report.

For the unversed, the reported incident of harassment happened on October 3 at the protest site in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. There was immense backlash against the Delhi police personnel, with people demanding strict action against him.
