What Did The Minor Say?
In the same video, she referred to the entire incident as her first and last mistake. Police papers list her age as twenty-five years but she said she is only fifteen years old. She told the entire country that she felt very ashamed and could not even look at herself while she asked everyone to forgive her. A formal complaint about her remarks reached a Noida police station on Wednesday. Officers there registered a zero FIR and then moved the case to the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi for further action.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on Friday about the pain he felt when even his late mother became the target of abusive words at the same protest. He voiced disappointment that young women had chosen such language yet he asked the public to pardon the misguided youth.
In another video message that he shared late at night on Instagram, he explained that he understood the anger many people were feeling. At the same time, he believed this was the moment to support the young people and help them move toward the right path. He mentioned that a few naughty children had used bad language against him and that such words have no place in a civilised society.
He pointed out that abusive words never solve any problem and that the better way is to guide those who have gone astray. The prime minister made it clear that he wants to forgive them because people make mistakes and because these young ones are still the children of the nation. He added that it is the duty of everyone to show them the right direction so they can grow into better citizens.
