22-Year-Old Woman Files Fake Rape Cases Against Eight Men, Held For Extortion

The number of rape cases in India has been increasing substantially. Every other day, we get to hear a bunch of news about how a woman was raped by someone. But when you hear stories where a woman files a fake complaint because of some irrational ulterior motives, it is so disheartening! And this case is much worse. A woman who is reportedly a student of BA (Hons) filed eight different fake rape cases against eight men in the police station in Gurgaon.

According to police reports, on Wednesday, the 22-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly honey-trapping and filing fake rape cases against several men. She was produced in a city court and was later sent to judicial custody. The case came into light when a Karnal-based woman, who is the mother of one of the accused men, filed a complaint against the 22-year-old woman at New Colony Police Station. In her complaint, the woman said that her son had rented a room from the 22-year-old woman in October. After a few days of moving in, she started threatening him. “In October, when my son was seeking a house to rent in Vijay Park area he saw a mobile number on a ‘To let’ board and made the call. There was a woman on the other side who said she would let the room to my son,” the woman said in her complaint.

The woman further added that the 22-year-old woman started calling her son on the phone and later began threatening him to either marry her or pay her money. As per reports, the girl has been sent to jail while the police are probing the matter from all angles. According to the New Colony Police Station SHO Rajesh Kumar, the woman had filed eight alleged fake cases, out of which four were cancelled, three are pending in the court, and two cases are still under investigation.

The woman’s mother and another man identified as Narender Yadav were also involved in the racket, ACP (crime) Preet Pal Singh Sangwan said. The police teams are conducting raids to nab the mother of the girl and another accused.

Hearing such stories can negatively impact the actual victims of rape and makes it difficult for them to get justice.
