Woman Mortgaged Mangalsutra To Get Husband Killed By Contract Killers

What do you do when you’re in a relationship with someone other than your husband and he is in a relationship with another woman? What do you do when he knows the entire situation and still refuses to give you a divorce? Do you cope with it? Take him to court? As for this woman, the answer was simple – to get her husband killed. And she did that by mortgaging her mangalsutra and other pieces of jewelry.

Recently, a woman named Shruti Ganj, her boyfriend, and two other people were arrested by the police for murdering her husband, Prabhakar Ganj. The 43-year-old Prabhakar Ganj was a cab driver and was killed by his wife after she mortgaged her mangalsutra and other jewelry to pay the contract killers.

While the police were investigating the murder of Prabhakar Ganj, they found out that Shruti Ganj had gone to a pawn shop and pawned her mangalsutra and other jewelry pieces for Rs. 1 lakh. She needed Rs. 1 lakh as advance payment to the contract killers she had hired. And Shruti was all set to pay the remaining Rs. 3 lakhs by liquidating her fixed deposits.

Upon police investigation, it came to light that Shruti Ganj wanted a divorce from Prabhakar Ganj as she wanted to move in with her boyfriend Hitesh Vala. And even though Prabhakar Ganj was in a relationship with another woman, he refused to divorce his wife. Frustrated with being stuck in an unhappy marriage, she spoke to her friend Priya Nikkam who introduced her to the contract killer – Santosh Reddy. After they struck up a deal, she was all set to raise the money for her husband’s murder by mortgaging her mangalsutra.

The police have arrested Shruti Ganj, Hitesh Vala, Priya Nikkam, and Santosh Reddy so far for getting the husband, Prabhakar Ganj, killed. But the police are still on the lookout for two other accomplices – Kashinath Dhotre and Rohit Bachute – who got paid from the money she got after mortgaging her mangalsutra and other jewelry pieces.

As per the evidence and the statements by the accused, Shruti Ganj mortgaged her mangalsutra and jewelry to let Santosh Reddy start with his murder plan for Prabhakar Ganj. According to Ashok Honmane, a senior police officer of the Bhiwandi crime unit, Santosh Reddy and two other people booked Prabhakar Ganj’s cab on 31st July night on the pretext of traveling to Airoli from Bhiwandi. Ashok Honmane, a Bhiwandi crime unit officer, said, “When the cab reached Mankoli naka, they asked Ganj to stop so that they could buy Chinese food from a stall. When Ganj stopped the car, the accused strangled him with a nylon rope and fled.” He even added that they were careful to not leave any fingerprints behind on the crime scene.

It was during the interrogation that Shruthi Ganj revealed the truth and all the details of the murder case. Isn’t it ironic that she mortgaged the symbol that binds a couple in marriage – mangalsutra? It just goes to show that when one person is done being in a relationship that they are unhappy about, they’d go to extreme lengths to get out of it. We may be really need to imbibe the phrase – live and let live.
