Woman Gives Birth To Quadruplets After Fighting Severe Diseases

It infuriates me when someone comes up to me and tells me that women are not strong enough. Whether it be physically, mentally, and or emotionally. And the best example that I can give of a woman’s strength is when a woman gives birth to a child. It is not just about the physical pain, but also about the mental turmoil and the burst of emotions. It can only be experienced and fought through by a woman. Still not convinced? Let me present you with the example of this Odisha woman who gave birth to quadruplets after fighting severe jaundice and anemia.

Recently, an Odisha woman, Chabi Nayak struggled with extreme poverty while she was pregnant with four babies – quadruplets – growing inside of her. The woman is a native of Sarankul, Bhanjanagar Block in the Gautam district of Bhubaneswar.

When she was observed by the doctors, they realized that her condition was serious and so she was shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack. Upon reaching there, Chabi Nayak’s test result showed that she had sickle cell, jaundice, and anemia – all extremely severe, while she was pregnant with quadruplets.

It was then that the SCB Medical team of doctors and specialists from Gynecology, Hematology, and Hepatology, took it up as a challenge to save her life as well as the quadruplets. They took a multidisciplinary approach and followed an out-of-the-box approach to save all five lives.

The team of SCB Medical doctors was led by Dr. Tushar Kar (HOD, Gynaecology Dept.) who ensured that the woman and her quadruplets survive the procedure. Even though Chabi Nayak was going through such severe medical diseases, she proceeded with normal delivery, and all the quadruplets – four girls – are doing perfectly well and healthy. Even Chabi Nayak is responding well to her treatment and fighting the diseases – one step at a time.

And if that is not strength then I honestly don’t know what is. Firstly, giving birth to quadruplets is not easy, and above that dealing with jaundice, anemia, and sickle cell is even more draining. Draining not just physically but also emotionally and mentally. So, to all who think women are not strong enough, just take a look around and you will see thousands of us fighting battles that don’t even exist in your world.
