Woman Crashes Partner’s Nikah in UP And Drives Back To Delhi To Marry Him

Growing up watching Bollywood movies, the one scene that fascinated me was when the hero or the heroine would intercept a marriage to claim their partner. Watching those dramatic sequences I used to always stop and wonder if this actually happened in real life. I mean, after all, they say art imitates life. And the recent case of where a woman, with the help of cops, gatecrashes her partner’s nikah – affirms my belief that such things actually happen.

Recently, a 22-year-old Santosh Kumari from Delhi gate crashed her partner, Ajmal Ahmad’s nikah in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh (UP). The Hindu woman took the help of Manadawar police to stop the nikah and went back to Delhi to get married to him.

Santosh Kumari and Ajmal Ahmad had first met in a salon in Delhi and after getting close to each other, they finally decided to move in together. The live-in partners moved into a house together in Sarai Kale Khan and soon Ajmal Ahmad visited his hometown, where he was caught getting married to another woman. It was then that Santosh Kumari took the help to stop the nikah of her live-in partner.

According to the police, Santosh Kumari filed a complaint with the police on Tuesday. In the FIR, she revealed that she and Ajmal Ahmad had been in a relationship with each other for the past year and she wanted to go back to Delhi to marry him. After which, a group of police officers accompanied her to Bijnor, UP to stop the nikah. They stopped the nikah mid-way and took Ajmal Ahmad in for further investigation.

One would think that interrupting the nikah was the end of it. But that wasn’t the case. A group of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) members also caused chaos when they interrupted the matter. They tried explaining to Santosh Kumari that she was being ‘coerced’ into getting married to a Muslim man. But when Santosh stood her ground and stated that she was willing for an inter-faith marriage, the Vishva Hindu Parishad blamed the police for being ‘mute spectators’ to the ‘wrong’ that was being done.

After all the chaos of stopping the nikah and dealing with the Vishva Hindu Parishad, Santosh Kumari and Ajmal Ahmad were on their way back to Delhi to get married. Surprisingly, no FIR was filed against Santosh Kumari by Ajmal Ahmad’s family. The case was now handed over to the Delhi police.

Fighting for the love of your life is one thing and going ahead with the cops to stop your partner’s nikah is another thing completely. I can’t even imagine how much guts it must have taken for the woman to go ahead and stop the nikah. But isn’t that what love is? It gives you the strength and courage to fight for your love and win. And this couple just proved that.
