Pop star Justin Bieber has revealed that he is suffering from Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and this is the reason why he has cancelled a couple of shows from his work tour. The Baby hitmaker took to his Instagram to share a video of himself and shared this news with his fans. In the video, he showed how now one side of his face has become paralysed which is why he cannot lift his lips upwards to smile and he also cannot blink with that eye. What Is Ramsay Hunt Syndrome?
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that leaves the facial nerve paralysed, which in turn leaves the face paralysed. The one suffering from this syndrome also develops a rash that affects their ear and mouth. This disorder also causes discomforts like tinnitus meaning ringing in the ears and even hearing loss.
As per Rare Diseases Org, varicella-zoster virus (VZV) causes this syndrome and it is the same virus that causes chickenpox in children. The syndrome comes into effect after the dormant virus gets activated and acts on the facial nerve. James Ramsay Hunt was the physician who first described this syndrome in the year 1907.

As for the treatment of the syndrome, antiviral medications are given to the patient and doctors are of the belief that administering the medicine within three days of diagnosing the syndrome helps greatly with treating the condition.
