What A Unique Bridal Entry! This Bride Got Airlifted To Her Wedding

Weddings are a big affair. And I say this because of the size and grandeur, because that’s a given but also because it’s a moment that gets etched in memory. Embarking upon a new journey with your partner, professing your love and commitment towards each other in front of your family and loved ones, it’s everything love. And it is only fair that couples want to make sure that everything goes perfectly that day. But it rarely ever happens (not even in the movies) that everything goes just as planned. In fact, chances are that things could go haywire the very day, or at least they did for this one couple in Australia, where the bride had to be airlifted.

Hopeful for a beautiful and exciting wedding ceremony,  Kate Fotheringham, the Australian bride was thrilled as her wedding day was approaching. However, thanks to the heavy storms and rains and floods, her vision of having a perfect wedding were washed away..

On Saturday morning, Kate discovered that her parent’s house been flooded by the rain water. Not only her house was damaged, but also the only bridge  in the town where she and her fiance Wayne Bell were expected to get married at 3 pm, was also submerged under water.

She shared, “It took three months to plan the wedding, 12 hours for it go to hell and six hours for it come together again.” She went on to say, “I had accepted the fact it was going to be raining and I was wearing gumboots, but I didn’t know how I was going to deal with a one-in-a-hundred-year flood and a natural disaster.”

And while only so much could be done to salvage the already ruined wedding day, the two ended up having an emergency wedding, that didn’t just save their day, it made it memorable. The couple eventually settled on emergency airlift.

Speaking about it, Kate said, “Wayne rang and said you have to be ready in 50 minutes. We were waiting out the front for the helicopter. We took off and flew less than 5km and Justin, the pilot, dropped us off in the circle of Wingham Showground.” With tons to do before the wedding, from fixing make-up to the caterers to other arrangements, the entire plan was a little dicey. Little did they know, the reception would turn out to be much better than expected.

“Explaining it, it doesn’t even sound real. It’s like, how is this possible? You can’t make it up. I can’t believe that we pulled it off. My family is incredible. We’re not ones to back down from something difficult, we can deal with a challenge or 10 – or a massive flood,” added the bride.

The pictures that have gone viral on the internet are a sight to behold. With crazy reactions from netizens, the post has garnered a lot of love and wishes from everyone who came across it. Guess, love does win against all odds!
