A Man’s Social Experiment Of Asking For A Handshake Is Proof Of Women’s Distrust Towards Men
While scrolling through your Instagram or social media handles, have you come across videos where people take to the streets to carry out fun and interesting experiments? For example, asking for hugs, or just kicking a football to see who kicks it back. Or many people actually make videos of asking some interesting questions to strangers on the streets. So yes, such videos have become very popular, but there are very subtle and underlying matters that these videos highlight, of course, that would depend on every person’s own perspective. In a similar kind of social experiment video, a man can be seen extending his hand to random strangers for a handshake. Not a single woman reverts to the handshake and simply either looks away or ignores it. The video will make you wonder why this is happening and probably one thing that instantly comes to mind is that they mistrust a man, moreover because he is a stranger.
The video was posted by a Twitter user, and the credits have been given to the Tik Tok user whose ID is @thenotoriusalvin. Since then this video has garnered 14.9 million views. In the video, the man can be seen asking for handshakes, and many random men come up and respond to this gesture. However, in the video, the women can be seen walking, and the doubt on their faces is so evident. Of course, we women are very cautious while walking on the street. The video highlights this commonality among women.

Many of the Twitter users also gave their opinions on this and gave clearer perspectives as to why women chose not to respond to a stranger. One of the users in very simple words put forth a reason saying women keep their safety intact and do not engage with strangers, especially men. And I could not agree more! Many others also responded to the video with their tweets and highlighted some serious issues women face on a daily basis.
Women fear for their safety so they tend not to interact with stranger especially men. As simple as that

Do you think it might actually be because women have experienced a lifetime of men approaching them without invitation and it rarely ending well? We’re quite capable of thinking for ourselves and know that it’s best to just ignore.

Perfect example of women's related experiences leaving them hesitant to engage with a man they do not know. Good display of male privilege here not sharing those same experiences and hesitation.

I am sure every single woman has had some kind of uneasy, uncomfortable, and bad experience on the streets, such as eve teasing, and unnecessary staring. Therefore there is a natural shield we have made especially when we are walking on the streets, or in a public place. Whether we are alone or with someone, we are always cautious of our surroundings. Therefore the woman not responding to a stranger’s handshakes is proof of how we do not want to unnecessarily trust strangers and simply choose to ignore them.
