Veteran Actresses Asha Parekh, Helena And Waheeda Rehman Upset After Pictures Of Their Private Vacation Go Viral
Let me ask you something. What would you rather have, money and fame or privacy? Because clearly, in today’s today and age, it’s impossible to have both. Take celebrities, for instance, their monthly earnings are equal to our five year savings and yet they can’t afford privacy. Yes, they chose a life in the public eye but does that really mean that paparazzi and fans have the right to use zoom lenses and click pictures of them in their houses? That’s happened on more than one occasion and it’s terrifying. Similarly, pictures of veteran actresses Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman and Helen vacationing in the Andaman and Nicobar islands went viral without their knowledge. We have to normalize not clicking pictures of celebrities without their consent, especially if they are on a private vacation.
In a recent interview, actress Asha Parekh said that she, Helen and Waheeda Rehman were angry and left feeling violated after pictures of them from their private vacation to the Andaman and Nicobar islands went viral on social media. She said that neither of them had any idea they were being clicked.
Asha Parekh said, “These pictures are from a holiday we took in the end of March in the Andamans just before the lockdown. We thought it was a very private vacation. We just wanted to get out. Relax. We’ve no idea who took the pictures. It was probably some tourists. The place was swarming with vacationers. Aaj kal koi bhi photos le sakta hai bina ijaazat ke.”

Asha Parekh, Helen and Waheeda Rehman’s pictures were posted by Bollywood producer Tanuj Garg on social media. In his caption, he said that if the movie Dil Chahta Hai was ever being remade, he would nominate these three actresses for it. Presumably, the picture that he uploaded was a private picture from their holiday because Asha Parekh was not pleased with Tanuj’s post.
In the interview took a dig at him by saying that their holiday was more like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara than Dil Chahta Hai. Asha Parekh said, “More than me, Waheeda Rehman and Helen were upset. They are far more private people than me. People were sharing the pictures and saying the three of us should star in a sequel to Dil Chahta Hai. Why Dil Chahta Hai? I don’t understand. It was more like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.”
Celebrity or not, clicking someone’s picture and then uploading it on social media without their knowledge and permission is wrong. What happened here is absolutely unacceptable and shameful. Just because they are celebrities that doesn’t mean paps or fans can disregard their privacy in such a manner.
