UK Woman Forgets About Last 20 Years Of Her Life After Catching A Cold From Her Son. Okay WTF?

According to the reports, a woman named Claire Muffett-Reece lives in Essex with her family – her husband Scott and two sons, Jack and Max. One day, she went to sleep after catching a cold from her son and it seemed a pretty normal cold that will get better within three-four days to her. But what happened the other day is so shocking, Claire slipped into a coma for the next 16 days. Luckily, she did wake up from her coma only to realise that she has lost memory of the last 20 years. According to the reports, the woman has encephalitis which is inflammation of the brain. Recently she talked about her experience and raised awareness about encephalitis on a talk show on February 22 which also marks World Encephalitis Day. During the appearance, Claire’s husband Scott said that two weeks before the incident, she was suffering from a cold and it got worse and was not waking up in the morning and then he took her to the hospital after she started having a seizure. After putting her on a ventilator, the doctors revealed that she has encephalitis that causes flu-like symptoms which in many cases, can be fatal.

In another interview, the woman mentioned that she does not remember all the important events of her life due to memory loss. She said that she was able to remember her kids but forget things like giving birth to them or their birthdays and other important days. Talking about her memory loss, she is thankful that she could remember everyone and there’s still a chance that her memory may return but she will try to make many new and happy memories. We love that she’s so positive about it.
