Two Men In Madhya Pradesh Made To Do Sit Ups After They Were Caught Harassing Women In The Streets. Now That Is A Way To Set An Example!
Back when I was in school, we were on a very tight leash when it came to teaching us manners and etiquette. From being reprimanded for arriving late to class to being punished if we weren’t dressed properly, there were no free passes for bad behaviour. In fact, if the need arose, children were even made to do sit ups, just so they remembered to not pull off a stupid stunt ever again. A technique that the Madhya Pradesh police has recently adopted for schooling men who think they can get away after sexually harassing women.
In a bid to set an example for the men out there, Madhya Pradesh police has decided to go old school in their methods of reprimanding offenders. This after the MP police recently made two guys hold their ears and do sit ups after they were caught sexually harassing women on the streets in broad daylight.
The lady constable who was involved in catching the goons, Manisha said, “The two were catcalling women passing by and made it difficult for them to step out of their houses.” She went on to share, “We had to do this to set an example that such behavior towards women will not be tolerated. We also took out their public procession.”

As a matter of fact, this is not the first time that the Madhya Pradesh police has made it a point to punish offenders w, in a way that they are unlikely to forget. The men who allegedly also misbehaved with the lady constable were served with a befitting punishment.
It is about time men in the society realise that they can’t get away with harassing women, and that nothing holds them above the law, not even their gender. Hopefully this public embarrassment would also make other such perpetrators refrain from trying anything of the same sort. However, we hope the police doesn’t just stop at sits ups, and gets a little more preemptive in their measures to control crime against women. Meanwhile, we are glad to see that the police is getting creative, for this is great start.
