Twinkle Khanna Shared A Picture From Her School Days To Promote A Cause. She Was As Awkward As The Rest Of Us!

We all admire Twinkle Khanna for unapologetically being herself in a world where people shy away from accepting their own flaws. Twinkle Khanna started her career as a Bollywood actress and till date she has been a part of 17 movies. Although the actor-turned-author openly accepts the fact that she was terrible at her job and never intended to be an actress in the first place. And of course, we all love how sarcastic this woman can get. Plus, the fun banter between her and hubby Akshay Kumar is always fun to watch.

Twinkle regularly talks about social causes on Twitter and has  time and again promoted various campaigns including that of women’s education. Recently Twinkle Khanna shared her picture from her school days to encourage women’s education in India. The author also made fun of and called out the awkward hairstyles in the picture. Well, that’s just  Twinkle being Twinkle and we love her for it. Twinkle Khanna also pointed out how two girls out of five never finish their education, which is a major concern today. Her throwback picture has garnered all the right attention and she also tagged Sonam Kapoor, Tahira Kashyap and Akshay Kumar encouraging them to do the same!

Twinkle Khanna shared the picture and wrote, “Growing up, as you can see not only did I have the same hairstyle as my class teacher( why? why? why?) but studying and doing well was very important to me and it all helped me to become an independent woman.” she added, “2/5 girls still don’t complete school. Let’s ask #WhyTheGap with @savethechildren_india to give every girl #TheRightStart – I nominate @sonamkapoor @tahirakashyap @akshaykumar to take this further by sharing their school memories.”

Twinkle Khanna has also joined hands with a non-profit organisation, Save The Children India, which promotes adolescent health and menstrual hygiene. She has been an artist ambassador for the organisation.

The author has a huge interest in reading from a young age. “I think you have to be pragmatic to the approach of life and brutally honest with yourself. We all are here to do something and it is important to understand our potential first. From the age of 15, I started working and the journey is going on,” she said at her second book launch.

Twinkle Khanna also opened up on how she found her own identity. She said, “The gratifying part of my journey is no one calls me a star child or a superstar’s wife anymore. I think I have grown beyond that and have my own identity. Nevertheless, of course, my life partner influences me a lot. He is supportive and I dedicate my book to him. I bored him to death narrating my stories when the book was in the process.”
