Domestic Violence Reports Rip Through TV Industry. Nisha Rawal Files A Case Against Husband Karan Mehra
There are several reasons that people “claim” are the cause of domestic violence in a household. Some say it may be addiction, whether of drugs or alcohol, others may blame childhood trauma faced by the perpetrators and for some it is their lack of control on emotions like anger and frustration. Factors that might be present and deep-rooted in a person and yet invisible even to people who know them intimately. Like with people we see everyday on our TV screens. They often make appearances as the ‘perfect husband’ in one of the daily soaps, and real life is different from reel life.
We are talking about the recent arrest of TV actor Karan Mehra after his wife, actress Nisha Rawal filed a complaint against him at the Goregaon police station on Monday night, after an alleged brawl with her husband.
The actor who is famously seen on the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai got married too actress Nisha Rawal back in 2012 as they met on the set of Hastey Hastey. 5 years into their marriage, in 2017 the couple then welcomed their first child, a son into their lives. However, off late, rumours of there being trouble in paradise had started to make the rounds. And in hushed whispers, everyone was discussing domestic violence.

With several reports claiming that the couple was having troubles in their marriage, Karan had always denied any truth to the rumours. Earlier, while speaking to a leading daily, Karan had said, “I have no clue what led to these rumours all of a sudden. I saw this news today only and I have been getting calls from everywhere. When Nisha got the news, she had also cleared it. Even after that, I don’t know how these rumours started spreading.” However, the recent news of arrest speaks differently.
Karan who is out on bail presently spoke on the matter and said, “(Last night) I was talking to my mother over the phone when Nisha barged in and started hurling abuses at me, my parents, and my brother. She started shouting loudly and not only that Nisha even spat on me. When I asked Nisha to go out, she threatened me by saying ‘see what I do now’ and went out. She then smashed her head on the wall, and told everyone that I did it.” This is a domestic violence case turned around on its head.

Nisha Rawal and Karan Mehra aren’t the first ones to be in the industry with allegations of domestic violence in their relationship. Several other actors like Shweta Tiwari, Poonam Pandey, Divya Bhatnagar, have also been in the news for similar abuse stories. Which perhaps makes the position of women in our society, all the more worrying.
