This Woman Was Stabbed By Her Suitor Because She Didn’t Agree To Travel With Him To Meet His Parents.
Every few weeks, there is a new case of domestic abuse that leaves us baffled. It’s almost as if men are collectively coming up with new ways of being harmful to women every day. Throughout this lockdown, India has seen a three-fold surge in domestic violence cases and that is terrifying. The most recent case comes to us from Maharashtra. A man stabbed his fiance when she refused to travel to another city to meet his parents. This is very worrisome.
You see, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by her suitor, in front of her parents, after she refused to travel to Jalgaon to meet his parents. The incident occurred in Butibori area on Sunday. The accused, Mayur Mahajan, was insisting that the woman travels to Jalgaon so the couple could discuss their wedding with his parents.
Interestingly, it was earlier that same day that the victim’s parents had agreed to this union. The victim and Mayur have known each other since 2018. They met while working in the same company in Pune.

Talking about the stabbing, a police official said, “Mahajan told the woman’s parents on Sunday evening that his father would not come to Nagpur to discuss the marriage proposal. He insisted that the woman accompany him to Jalgaon immediately. When she refused, Mahajan whipped out a knife and stabbed her.” The woman is currently hospitalized.
This is a shocking incident. I don’t understand how after so many similar instances, there has been no permanent action taken. So what if she didn’t agree and give in to his wishes? Does that mean he can stab her? Men are severely harming women for the pettiest reasons and it makes my blood boil. We need some serious reforms to curb domestic abuse.
