This Viral Video Of Italians Clinking Their Wine Glasses From Their Balconies Is All We Need To Cheer Up Today

Most of our lives we’ve been told that showing vulnerability is a sign of weakness. When we really wanted to cry, we’ve been told to keep it in and plaster a smile on your face. We refrain from expressing our grief, pain and any negative emotions because society expected us to be like plastic dolls. But that only ruins your mental health further! This is a tough time and it’s okay to speak about how you’re feeling. You don’t have to put on a façade of ‘I’m chill’ on social media.

We have low days and then there are days we catch up and are doing better. The best thing is we aren’t slipping away into melancholy. When we do have moody days, we also make sure to do something to crawl right out of it. Italy, one of the majorly affected countries by coronavirus has time and again showed us how to keep our spirits high.

We’ve watched videos of neighbours having concerts, sing-along sessions, etc – all from their balcony. This time, they went one step ahead and not only got on their balcony to have wine but also managed to clink their wine glasses! They secured the glasses on long sticks, pretty much like the long poking device in the Friends show.

Mauro Ricigliano shared the video of this rather fun activity wherein a couple of neighbours cheered up over wine. As I am writing this, the video already has 374k shares, 63K likes and 27k comments. People are absolutely loving their lively spirit. Some have even said they’d love to move in that neighbourhood!

And people have been getting so innovative at it; this is so heartening! People around the world are playing virtual games, having virtual dance parties and even online dates. This is the silver lining of this dark cloud. Let’s take a moment to appreciate our capability to keep going and bounce back.
