This UAE-Based Entrepreneur Is Going To Pay Salaries To His Male Employees Spouses To Appreciate Their Contribution Through The COVID 19 Pandemic.
This last year of battling the coronavirus has stripped us down to our bare basics. And while that’s a good thing in some ways, it has also exposed the true nature of gender norms. We all know that traditionally, men are the bread-winners and women cook, clean and perform other domestic chores. Just when things had just started to evolve we were struck with the lockdown. So, while the women slogged away all day to keep food on the table and the house clean, the men pretended they were in summer camp. The truth is that despite multiple efforts, the role of a homemaker is just not recognized by most people, let alone monetized. Which is why we were so excited when we found out that a company is giving its employees wives a salary for all the work they did during the lockdown. Clearly, we have a lot to learn from entrepreneur Dr Sohan Roy.
While many companies still haven’t lifted pay cuts, Dr Sohan Roy, a Sharjah-based businessman who promotes Aries Group of Companies in the United Arab Emirates, decided to pay a salary to not only his employees but also their wives. He did this to honour and recognize their hard work through the COVID 19 pandemic.
According to reports, Dr Sohan Roy’s company creating a database of the spouses of male employees. Their monthly salary will be determined based on the number of years the employee has worked for the company. The wives salary is said to be released soon.

Dr Sohan Roy is the founder and chairman of Aries Group of Companies. He wanted to compensate the employee’s wives for their support and contribution to the company during the pandemic. This unique initiative recognizes the efforts of homemakers. They really are unsung heroes. We love everything about it!
Dr Sohan Roy came to this decision after he was inspired by the Supreme Court’s order in an accident case. The ruling was that the value of a housewife’s work is no less than her employed husband. This order influenced him to support his employee’s spouses as well during this difficult time.
It should be noted that this is not the only noble thing the Aires Group does. They also give pension to the parents of their employees who have served the company for at least three years. This is very generous.
Over the years, there have been numerous movements that aim to monetize a homemaker’s contributions. However, this initiative by Dr Sohan Roy is the first of its kind. It’s an honestly unique move and we really hope that other industries and companies see the importance and follow suit!
