This Politician Said That Torturing A Woman Is Not A Sign Of Manhood And We Need More Of This

Despite numerous awareness campaigns, pseudo-woke discussions and stringent laws, the rate at which women are dying because of dowry are extremely alarming, to say the least. Most recently, A 23-year-old girl, Ayesha Banu from Ahmedabad made headlines after she jumped into the Sabarmati river after being harassed and abused for dowry by her husband and in-laws. This disturbing case was like a slap in the face from reality. Thousands of women, every year, are slaughtered like cattle all because they aren’t able to garner enough money to pay their greedy husbands and in-laws dowry over and over again. Surprisingly, Indian politician and the AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi slammed the dowry system and said that torturing and abusing women is not a sign of manhood. His statements are on point and we are loving this!

Before I tell you about what Asaduddin Owaisi said, let me give a little background about Ayesha Banu. In July 2018, she married Aarif Khan Gafurji from Jalore, Rajasthan. Shortly after the wedding, her husband and in-laws began harassing her, demanding dowry. In 2020, Ayesha’s father filed an FIR against Aarif and his family for domestic violence after they took a dowry worth Rs 2.5 lakh from him. On February 25, Ayesha made a heartbreaking video, that has now gone viral, explaining that her decision to end her life was her own and sent it to her father moments before jumping to her death into the Sabarmati River. Two days ago, Aarif Khan was arrested for abetting Ayesha’s suicide. This case has everyone’s blood boiling. Hopefully, thanks to Ayesha and her video, we can save a few girls from this evil practice.

Expressing his concern over Ayesha’s untimely and gruesome death, politician Asaduddin Owaisi said that no matter a person’s religion, the evil practise of dowry needs to come to an end.

He Slammed Dowry

He said, “No matter which religion you belong to, end this greed for dowry. Harassing your wife, beating her up for dowry or any financial transaction is not manhood. he family should be ashamed for forcing the girl to take an extreme step.” Further adding, “How many more women have to suffer? What kind of men are these that kill women? Is humanity dead among people? There are so many men who torture women, physically assault them, seek dowry and yet pretend to be an angel in the outside world.”

He then appealed to all Muslim men to be good to their wives. He said that demanding dowry is a sin in Islam and that women who being harassed should leave their husbands instead of taking such extreme steps. Asaduddin Owaisi said, “It is sinful to seek dowry in Islam. Women of the country should not fear these men and not take any extreme step. Your lives are valued. Rather leave such men and live a life of dignity.”

Why can’t all politicians think like Asaduddin Owaisi? Instead of victim shaming, passing sexist remarks and character assassinations, if our politicians stopped to think how social evils like dowry are ruining the lives of thousands of women, our country would be in a much, much better state. Everything that Asaduddin Owaisi said is on point. For how long are we going to let our women die in the heartbreaking way that Ayesha died?
