This Picture Of A Newborn Baby Trying To Remove The Doctor’s Mask Is Going Viral. People Are Seeing It As A Symbol Of Hope During This Pandemic

How would you describe the year 2020 in one word? I would say this year was dreadful. From protests to natural disasters and an increase in crime to a pandemic, I don’t remember the last time I got a shred of good news. But then again, the universe has only one rule. Nothing lasts forever. Though everyone is scared and our future is uncertain, the one thing that is keeping us going is that we know that this series of unfortunate events has to end sometime. The coronavirus will die out. Even if we don’t know when or how. Giving me this newfound hope and sense of optimism is a picture that is floating around on social media. The picture is of a newborn baby who is tugging at the doctors mask as if trying to get it off. It’s a sign! 

Okay, I am not crazy just hopeful. You see, like most people, I can’t wait for the day we can step out without wearing a mask or rubbing sanitizer every five minutes. Frankly, it’s a nuisance. The masks make it difficult to breathe and why isn’t anyone talking about the acne it’s causing? It might be protective gear but it’s a nuisance. Which is why when I stumbled upon this image, it gave me a sense of hope that maybe the end of this pandemic was near. Just the mere thought makes me want to squeal like a 12-year-old girl talking to her crush. 

The picture was shared on Facebook by Dubai-based gynaecologist Samer Cheaib. It showed a newborn baby crying in his arms trying to pull off his surgical mask. It’s a beautiful picture with the caption, “We all want a sign that we are going to take off the mask soon.”

This picture has become a beacon of hope for all netizens who, like me, are eagerly waiting to go back to a time where masks were redundant. It’s going viral. A lot of people on social media said that this picture was a sign that we will have a better future. Basically, the baby pulling the doctor’s mask off and the doctor grinning from ear to ear is a symbolism of this pandemic coming to an end and us having a better future. *Fingers crossed*. 

There is a lot of uncertainty around us at the moment. Hence, we are looking for even the smallest sign that makes us feel like there is a brighter future in store for us. I would like to believe that perhaps this is the start of a new beginning. 

Reportedly, this photo is an old one that has been posted by Dr Samer just now. Even if that is the case, we still have hope. This beautiful photo stands for a new life. In every way.
