This Is An Unusual Story About An Old Couple’s Love And Separation And Now Marriage. We’re Going Aww

In a little over two decades of my existence, I have come to learn a few things about love and life. I know it makes me seem all wise and all but I am not. But the biggest lesson I have learned, is that if you let things be, they find their way back to you, if they’re really meant for you. That doesn’t mean the chase isn’t worth it, but maybe after a point you have to let love chase you back and if you’re lucky, it will find you just fine. As it all worked out wonderfully for this 60 + years old couple in Kerala, who recently set new couple goals by getting married in an old age home in their 60s.

67-year-old, Kochaniyan Menon who tied the knot to a 65-year-old Lakshmi Ammal in an old age home in Ramavarmapuram is a story of how true love, against all odds, ultimately finds you and pairs you with the one who’s meant for you. A concept that we as millennials may not have experienced but can surely witness – theirs is a story of serendipity and we love it already.

It all started more than 3 decades back when the two were young, in touch and probably in love too. However, they were soon separated due to the course of circumstances and fate that didn’t favour them back in the day. But seems like cupid wasn’t done with their incomplete love story, as years later, it found them again, this time in the same old age home. Their romance rekindled,  the couple didn’t wait to be estranged again. At 67 and 65, the couple happily tied the knot with each other in a beautiful ceremony at the government run-old age home.

In attendance was Kerala agriculture minister VS Sunil Kumar, who also was the one to give the hand of Lakshmi to Kochaniyan in marriage, along with his hearty blessings. Dressed in a smile that stretched up till their ears, as Lakshmi appeared wearing a red and golden sari and  Kochaniyan in a traditional shirt, the happy couple seemed ecstatic to begin a new chapter of their lives, no matter their age.

Engrossed in cherishing the moment and the love they had for each other, their story came as a much needed happy ending to all of us who have turned cynics and we have to admit, we loved it.

Guess after a point, it really is about being with the person as much as it is about seizing the moment. Clearly, the elderly couple has re-instated our faith in love and luck, and we wish them a happy and blessed married life!
