This Guy Stole A Woman’s Earrings To Fund His Birthday Celebrations. What Even!?!

I’m the kind of person that loves birthdays. Not just mine, but everyone else’s as well. The kind that starts prepping for her birthday almost 6 months in advance (yes I know). But hey, it is a special day. It is the day from where everything started. What I love even more about my birthday celebration is when everyone I love is there to celebrate it with me. But that also means that sometimes the birthday celebrations exceed the budget. And it is then that either you resort to asking your parents for money or borrow money. Or like this engineer Delhi, snatch a woman’s earring and sell them off to fund your birthday celebrations.

Recently, in Delhi’s Mansarovar Park police station, a case was registered against a junior engineer, Mohit Gautam, who snatched a woman’s gold earring and sold them to get money for his birthday celebrations.

According to the Delhi police, Mohit Gautam whose alias is Love is a resident of Jyoti Nagar Shahdara and is a junior engineer who is on a contract basis with the BSES. It was on Sunday that Mohit Gautam snatched the woman’s gold earring for his birthday celebration.

The police investigation had the police check over 30 CCTV footage and planned a supposed escape route that the snatcher might have taken. Through the footage, the police also collected a few snapshots which showed Mohit Gautam in a mask and no registration number on the number plate of his vehicle. When they arrested Mohit Gautam, he confessed to having snatched the gold earring to celebrate him being born, even if it’s on someone else’s money.

He was arrested by the police when they were keeping a watch at the Jagatpuri wine shop and saw a motorcycle with the same features. It was during the interrogation that he confessed to not only admitting that he snatched the gold earrings of the woman but also revealed the reason for doing it. The reason Mohit Gautam snatched those earrings was that he was running out of money for his birthday celebrations.

Mohit Gautam said that he got the money for his birthday celebrations by selling those gold earrings to Surender. Surender is a resident of Ashok Nagar in Shahdara and is also on the run. And the police are still trying to find him.

The case, even though serious, makes me giggle a bit. I mean, of course, snatching a woman’s gold earring is not justified but doing this for your birthday celebration is a bit gigglish. It also makes me wonder how we go above and beyond our capabilities to create an impression and please people around us. Birthdays are supposed to be about getting together and celebrating. And not about the pressure of living up to the standards set by others’ expectations.
