This Doctor From Bengaluru Receives Applause When She Returns Home After Treating Coronavirus Patients. We Love This

At this point in time, the only thing that matters is what we can do to control this virus that has been terrorising us. Nothing else holds any kind of importance at a time like this, not politics nor religion, even our economy takes a back seat. The only thing we (as a country) need to focus on is following this lockdown and all its protocols to ensure the coronavirus doesn’t spread any further.

To make matters worse, our curve just doesn’t seem to be flattening. Our case numbers are growing at an alarming rate and all we can do about that is watch them grow dumbfounded. However, it’s not all bad since out of the 42,670 cases, about 11,782 people have fully recovered and only 1,395 people have lost their lives (every life lost is extremely sad but if you look at the statistics, they speak for themselves) And if you compare our numbers to Europe, the USA and even other parts of Asia, you will see that despite all the hurdles, we are doing better.

And all this is only possible because of our amazing medical professionals who are working round the clock, trying to save as many lives as possible. They are standing on the frontlines of this war, fighting this pandemic and all its complications with all that they have. These doctors and nurses from all around the country have been commended and it’s all extremely heartwarming to watch.

Like this recent video featuring a doctor that has been doing the rounds of social media. Dr Vijyashree returned home after treating coronavirus patients and the welcome she got by her neighbours is extremely heartening. The video shows her walking into her building complex in Bengaluru as there is a wave of claps and cheers for the young doctor. This gesture brings tears to her eyes and puts a big smile on her face.

Shared by the BJP Karnataka’s official page on Twitter, the caption to the video read, “This is how the residents of an apartment in Namma Bengaluru honoured Dr Vijayashree who returned home after treating #COVID patients. Let us respect and appreciate the great services rendered by our Doctors.”

It makes me extremely happy to say this isn’t a one-off incident. This Sunday, we saw the petal shower and it was interesting to watch.

India’s armed forces put on quite a show to express gratitude towards our doctors and nurses. They organised fly-pasts of hospitals by fighter jets, performances by military bands at major hospitals battling COVID 19, helicopters dropping flower petals on medical staff and even our warships were lit up for this nation-wide event.

India’s Air Force combat jets and transport aircraft flew over Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Guwahati, Patna, Lucknow, Srinagar, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram. And  the IAF and Navy helicopters held flower showers for the frontline warriors.

In Mumbai, Chetak helicopters of the Indian Navy Coast Guard showered petals over the medical staff and sanitation workers of the Naval hospital Asvini at Colaba. Flower petals were also dropped on KEM, KGH and JJ hospitals by IAF and Navy helicopters. The Su-30 aircraft belonging to our Airforce also flew over Marine Drive on Sunday morning as a salute to these warriors.

Lakhs of doctors, nurses and police officials put their life on the line every day to ensure our safety during these turbulent times. They deserve all our applause and gratitude for they have been doing their duty to our nation without even hesitating. The two events that I have spoken about earlier might be completely unrelated, but they are connected by the same sentiment of gratitude and cheer.

It’s positive events like these that not only tug at your heartstrings but will also be the reason we come out of this pandemic safe and sound. All we can do is hope it’s sooner rather than later.
