This Bride Wore The Same Floral Sabyasachi Lehenga As Deepika Padukone And It’s Every Bit As Gorgeous

Life is unpredictable but when we are getting married, we hope that this will be our first and the last. It’s that one day when you’re the centre of attention of all your loved ones. You’re getting to spend the rest of your life with your bae and your wedding is the beginning of it all. Every bride wants to look the best she can, which is why so much goes into planning the trousseau. One of the safest ways to look pretty is take inspiration from Bollywood brides such as Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. They have given us so many looks, and all stunning – leaving us spoiled for choice. Sure, if I had to get the exact outfit, I will have to sell my future husband’s kidneys and he wouldn’t appreciate that (ugh, why does he need them?). So while I give up on that thought, let’s just be awestruck by this bride, Riya Patel who wore the exact same Sabyasachi lehenga that Deepika wore for her post-wedding bash hosted by her in-laws in Mumbai.

Born in Mumbai and based in California, Riya tied the knot looking stunning in the Dil-Guldasta lehenga from Sabyasachi’s 2018 Autumn Couture line. “It was love at first sight! I was drawn to the lehenga the minute it released. What I adore about this lehenga is that it is uniquely unprecedented. It has a flowy summer feel to it, encapsulated with a sense of glamour and a sheen of prestige. The floral patchwork mixed with a sheer dupatta is illustrious, and I was honoured to wear such a piece,” Riya told Vogue India. Wow, I love her style and her eloquence.

Bridal lehenga

The lehenga boasts of pink and red hand-embroidered flowers, complete with parrots and verdure. You can also spot the gold tiger emblem on the belt, which is the designer’s signature. Describing his creation Sabyasachi revealed, “The lehenga is intricately embroidered on Bordeaux silk with hand-dyed velvet appliqués, silk-floss, beaten silver and gold thread and rose-tinted crystals and rhinestones. The look is romanticised with a sheer, diaphanous, embroidered veil.”

Bridal jewellery

Like Deepika, Riya too opted for emerald jewellery and it perfectly complements the foliage-themed look. Both the brides wore an emerald choker and earrings set. However, unlike Deepika, Riya added a maang tikka to her look. She wore a stack of emerald green bangles while Deepika wore red choodas with gold kadas. The green bangles “added a touch of fresh, modern appeal” to her bridal look, Patel said.

Bridal makeup and hair

While Deepika had opted for a Frida Kahlo inspired look with a crown braid, finished with a halo of roses, Riya stuck to a middle-parted simple hairstyle. She went for champagne gold eyes and classic red lips. Deepika wore blue smokey eyes and nude lips.
