Things To Do In Mumbai With Your Dad This Father’s Day

By  |

Over the years, Mother’s Day has stolen all the limelight and we have showered our mums with gifts, dates, and more. But in recent times, the trend of celebrating Father’s Day has also caught up.

Okay, this is mainly for brands to increase their sales, but if a day like this exists, why not make the most of it, right? Father’s Day this year is this Sunday, June 18,  and it’s the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your old (or young?) man.

You can either buy him something or spend a lazy day at home, with a cuppa of tea and talk about just about anything. But if you’re in Mumbai and want your dad to leave the comfort of his home and enjoy his day with you, we have curated an entire itinerary for you. Pick the one that most appeals to you or do them all!

It is all things fun that will help you bond and celebrate your relationship with the No 1 man in your life. The one who will always be there.

Start With An Adrenaline Rush

I know, waking up early on a Sunday is a task, but just this, once do it and trust me, you won’t regret.

If you live in the ‘burbs, enroll to do a monsoon trek at SGNP, the highest point in Mumbai, for around Rs 750 and interact with daddy dearest amidst the serenity of nature. The trek starts at 7 am and you have to buy the tickets on the spot, so make sure you reach on time.

But if you can manage to make it to South Bombay, then Caravan Trips is organising a 2 hour-long bicycle ride around Colaba specially for Father’s Day. Roam around, eat a delicious breakfast, and reminisce about your childhood days when he was trying to teach you how not to fall. Plus, it ends with beer! So, call on +91 8976949403 and book your seats asap!

Slip Into Good Vibes

Pumped up? It’s time to relax now. It is said that nothing can be as relaxing as cooking and Flavour Diaries in Khar is organising special cooking classes for those who visit with their fathers. Chef Anjali Pathak will take you through 2 fun classes — British Baking & Skills, and Italian Master Pasta.

British Baking Cakes_hauterfly

The first one is from 11 am to 2 pm, priced at Rs 3,500 per person, and learn the 4 different methods of cake baking – Creaming, Melting, Rubbing-in, and All-in-one. Make delicious treats such as a Baby Lemon Cake with Avalanche Icing, Banana Bread Buffins with Coffee Cinnamon Butter Cream, and an Apple Crumble Cake, with step-by-step guidance.

Italian Master Pasta_Father's day_Hauterfly

If you opt for the second one, you will learn how to make fresh pasta dough using your own pasta machine to create 3 kinds of pasta – spaghetti, fettuccini, and farfalle, plus sauces with each of them! Also priced at Rs 3,500 per person, this class will be from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. To book either, call on +91 98201 43404 or log on to Flavour Diaries.

Or if you are too tired after all the cycling and the trek, then a brunch at the Olive Bar and Kitchen or The Daily will be perfect to unwind and spend a lazy afternoon enjoying the specially curated menu and drinks for this day!

You can go for the East India Company’s Making Shit Up at Canvas Laugh Club at 5:30 pm and laugh your ass off, or you can go for a Father’s Day special show called Daddy Issues at the Havana Cafe and Bar at 8 pm. Both will leave you with happy tears for sure!

Or, you can take your dad to watch the India Vs Pakistan Finals and basically scream until we win! Yes, duh, we are going to win.

The White Owl Brewery is screening this match with their new Keggers that can basically hold up to 15 glasses of beer. Ideal, right?

A Bar Called Life and Hoppipola are also going to live screen the match, and have special offers on their menus. So go to one of these places for a snack or 2, multiple drinks, and cricket joy — all of this with your dad.

After this epic day, if you still have any energy or space left in your stomach, an ice cream is ideal way to end the day, and make sure it’s one you and your dad will never forget it.

Start planning, yeah?
