The Disha Ravi Toolkit Case Might Be Closed Soon From Lack Of Major Leads

There have been no developments in the case.

Back in the month of February 2021, climate activist Disha Ravi was arrested by the Delhi Police. The case was in connection with the farmer’s protests that were taking place in the country. The 22-year-old climate activist was claimed to have shared the ‘toolkit’ regarding the protest. And the police arrested her under the IPC sections that are concerned with sedition, promoting enmity, and criminal conspiracy. But since the probe started in the Disha Ravi toolkit case, the police have not found any major leads regarding the case and so the reports suggest that police might end up not filing any charge sheet against her.

Disha Ravi was arrested from her house in Bengaluru on February 13, 2021, by the Delhi police, and 10 days later she was released on bail by the Delhi Court. According to the reports, she was accused of being the main conspirator in the circulation of a toolkit in the form of a Google document on the farmer’s protest.

The toolkit document was then shared by Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate activist on Twitter. The reports also claim that along with Disha Ravi, Nikita Jacob, the Mumbai-based advocate, and Shantanu, who is an engineer, were also accused in the creation and editing of the toolkit.

But after eight months of investigation, it seems that the police have hit a roadblock in the Disha Ravi toolkit case. And one of the major reasons behind it is the fact that neither Google nor Zoom has responded to the queries of the investigators of the case. In fact, senior officers have claimed that the investigation has come to a standstill and that there is a good chance that the police might not file a charge sheet against Disha.

One of the officers investigating the Disha Ravi toolkit case said, “We had found that Ravi and Nikita Jacob were allegedly on a Zoom call with PFJ’s Mo Dhaliwal, who is based in Canada, before the January 26 Red Fort violence, and needed details of the call, but officials in the US haven’t replied. We can’t send them any time-bound notice because they are not in India. Jacob and Shantanu both work for the UK-based organization Extinction Rebellion. We tried contacting their organization as well, but that too led nowhere.”

It seems as though the luck is in favor of Disha Ravi since the police have not been able to receive more information nor do they have the documents needed to proceed with the investigation. But since the final report has not been filed yet, there is still no surety of how the tables might turn. So all we can do is wait and watch.
