Surat Woman To Drive 10,000 Kms In A Truck On Republic Day To Provide Essentials To Those Who Need Them

By  |

If we were to make a simple comparison of the kind of India we grew up in to the one we’re living in right now, I could easily say that while we’re still a long way from an ideal world, today women feel more empowered than they did 50 years back and there have been several reasons for it. One of them being the various schemes that have been launched for the very purpose of uplifting women and safe guarding their interest, like the ‘Sashakt Nari, Sashakt Bharat’ (Strong Women, Strong India), like this Surat woman.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the scheme will see a woman from Surat embark upon an exciting and empowering drive on Republic Day, in a truck covering 10,000 kms to provide essential commodities to the needy.

Driving the truck will be Durriya Mustafa Tapia, founder of Movers Charity Trust, who will be seen driving a truck, covering 13 states in 35 days across the country including 4,500 underprivileged villages with the aim of enabling them and providing them with basic necessities.

She spoke on the matter as she shared, “I will drive the truck completing a journey of 10,000 km by covering 13 states including 4,500 underprivileged villages.” Further to this she also mentioned how, “Our trust provided food to 2,500 to 3,000 people in Surat amid the pandemic. I feel that we should expand this initiative nationwide and provide food, reusable mask, sanitary pads, dustbins, and sanitizers to the needy.”

A cause that isn’t just noble but also the need of the hour, it is ultimately initiatives like these that help people grow and also provide a channel to women with which they can feel empowered. There are several other projects and schemes that have been undertaken with the same interest in mind, including the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” andolan.
