Supermodel Linda Evangelista Gets Candid About Her CoolSculpting Surgery That Left Her ‘Disfigured’, Says “I’m Done Hiding”

Women are always expected to live up to unrealistic beauty standards created by society and if they are from the fashion or entertainment industry, the standards seem unachievable. Women working in beauty industries are expected to be hairless with that so-called zero figure, perfect like those plastic dolls. And it is really difficult to live up to something so unobtainable and can be mentally and physically draining for women. Recently, supermodel Linda Evangelista opened up about her cosmetic surgery that turned into a nightmare as it disfigured her entire body.

Linda Evangelista is a famous Canadian supermodel of the 90’s era who was one of the most photographed celebrities. Recently, she openly spoke about her non-surgical cosmetic procedure and how it changed her life and made her hide from the world for five years. But now she doesn’t want to hide anymore and shared her story with everyone that will comfort many women suffering from similar issues. In a recent interview, Linda Evangelista discussed that she went through mental and physical suffering after going through CoolSculpting surgery that ‘permanently deformed’ and ‘brutally disfigured’ her body. The surgery is an FDA-approved ‘fat-freezing’ technique that is reportedly a noninvasive alternative to liposuction. She mentioned that after a few months of completing her treatments, she noticed bulges around her chin, thighs, and bra region. The areas that were supposed to reduce in size were now expanding and hardened before turning numb. Evangelista tried to fix the problem by exercising and dieting, “I got to where I wasn’t eating at all. I thought I was losing my mind,” she told PEOPLE. Later, she discovered that she is going through Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH). According to the reports, PAH is a rare side-effect that affects less than one per cent of patients opting for CoolSculpting surgery, it causes the affected fatty tissue to thicken and expand.
