Sridevi’s Wax Statue Was Unveiled At Madame Tussauds In Singapore And It Has Her In Her Most Iconic Costume

Did you really have a childhood if you did not giggle to the the fun yodelling that is the beginning of Hawa Hawaii? The movie, Mr. India was iconic. It was the kind of movie that had all the elements of an entertainer – dance, drama, romance- and of course, the gorgeous, very expressive Sridevi. So it was only fitting that Sridevi should get her first wax statue in a costume that will be remembered for generations to come. Her wax statue got unveiled on 4th September and daughters Janhvi and Khushi and husband Boney Kapoor were all there for the unveiling.

The statue has her outfitted in a glamorous gold gown, one that closely resembles her ensemble in the hit song Hawa Hawai. Of course, they were extremely detailed too, including the crown and making the statue look like a million bucks.

In a video shared by Madame Tussauds Singapore,  you can see the team putting the finishing touches to the statue and it’s so life-like down to her eyes, you can’t believe it’s not real. But then, if you’ve ever been to a Madame Tussauds, you know that their attention to detail is legendary. A report in The Quint said that there was a team of 20 artists at work on this wax figure alone. The team worked closely with the actresses’ family to get the details right – from the outfit to the makeup and the expressions.

“It was a privilege to recreate a legendary star in close collaboration with her family,” said Lizzie Parkinson, costumier from Merlin Magic Making team in the UK. “Recreating Sridevi’s outfit was particularly challenging. Her crown, cuffs, earrings and dress brooch were 3D-printed, and went through numerous tests to achieve the level of detail needed”, Lizzie added.
