Say Hello And Thank You To Minal Bhonsale, The Lady Who Delivered India’s First Coronavirus Testing Kits Even Before She Delivered Her Own Baby!

Not trying to sound like a cynic here, just a realist, but it is true that for the longest time, the only things that India ranked for, in the global context was for questionable things. It was for population explosion, rape crime rates, or how it was not favourable to its women. But as times are changing, and India is trying to be as vigilant as possible in fighting our fight towards the covid-19 pandemic, we have one virologist Minal Dakhave Bhosale, to thank for her efforts in making and delivering India’s first testing kits for Coronavirus, hours before her delivered her baby.

As we struggle to find our footing in these times of coronavirus, one brave woman, Minal Dakhave Bhosale, who is also the Mylabs Discovery Solutions’s research and development chief, has helped us in changing the game. Responsible for coming up with the first Indian testing kits for covid-19, Mylab Discoveries in Pune became the first Indian firm to get full approval to make and sell testing kits.

With an estimated supply of 100,000 Covid-19 testing kits a week being a requirement, going up to even a 2o0,000 if need be, the price of the kit has been brought down significantly to now 1200 rupees from the earlier 4500.

When asked about the details, Minal said, “Our kit gives the diagnosis in two and a half hours while the imported testing kits take six-seven hours.” Heading the team that made the kit in record time, she shared how even though she had left working on account of a pregnancy leave in February, she came back during the spread of this pandemic to be of help to the cause. Delivering the kit a day before she did her baby, Minal has set a great example for everyone out there.

As Ms Bhonsale gave birth to a healthy baby girl last week, she said, “It was an emergency, so I took this on as a challenge. I have to serve my nation,” and it has been due to such selfless efforts from the medical experts, doctors, nurses that we have been in any position to fight this deadly virus.
