S Phangnon Konyak Is All Set To Become First Woman Rajya Sabha Member From Nagaland

You know, when a woman achieves great things in her career, not only does she changes her life but all the lives around her by inspiring them to do the same. They set a goal for themselves and achieve it with their grit and determination just like S Phangnon Konyak did. She is all set to become the first woman Rajya Sabha member from Nagaland. This is a huge accomplishment because the representation of women in Indian politics is quite dismal. More power to her!

S Phangnon Konyak is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and President of Nagaland’s Mahila Morcha. On Monday, all the candidates had to file their nominations for the election which will be held on March 31 and S Phangnon Konyak was the only candidate who filed the nomination. And that’s how Nagaland got its first woman Rajya Sabha MP. Konyak, the consensus candidate of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), will also be the first BJP member from Nagaland to be sent to Parliament and the second Naga woman parliamentarian. In 1977, Rano M Shaiza was elected to the Lok Sabha. After the announcement, many politicians including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister Of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju, and others congratulated her.

We love when women achieve great things!
