Women Reveal Friendly, Platonic Things They Do That Men Misconstrue As Leading Them On

Recently, I was at a party where I was talking and laughing with this gentleman after which while I was stepping up I used his arm for support as I was just about to slip (yes, I am clumsy). I thanked him for lending support and smiled at him in the process. For me, that was it but not for him. He then went ahead and tried to get my number from a common friend because he thought I was interested in him. When the friend asked him what did I say or do to indicate that I’m interested, he said that I touched his arm. Yep, seriously. What I thought was pretty platonic and everyone would do when they’re about to fall, apparently became a sign of me leading him on. And this is not something that has just happened to me. A lot of women perform friendly actions platonically but men being men assume that the women are leading them on. Ummm, what even?

In fact, a Reddit user named u/potatoecorner asked “Ladies, what friendly actions have you done that men thought you were leading them on but you’re really just platonically friendly?” and the comment section is filled with relatable af answers.

Some of the answers are oh-so-not surprising that they make you go ‘haan, yeh toh hua hai’ and others will make you go ‘yeh bhi?’. But all the answers will for sure make you wonder if it really is so easy to lead men on (because if it is, toh mere crush mein koi khot hai).

I get paid for my job and leading you on is definitely not on the list of requirements!

Can anything be more platonic than this?

Honestly, just reading this whole Reddit thread has me wondering if this is similar for men as well. I mean, now I want to know if there are friendly actions that they do platonically that we take as hints or signs.
