Raveena Tandon Says She Would’ve Taken The Pants Off A Lot Of People If Social Media Were There During The 90s. We Wish It Could Happen

From all the things that my parents have passed on to me -my mother’s knack for writing, my father’s impeccable sense of humour and well, immodesty…one that has gotten passed on quite surprisingly is the fascination for Bollywood. From catching a movie or two every weekend, to having regular debates about happening with the who’s who of the tinsel town, collectively we’re  pretty up to date with our knowledge of the veteran and present age actors and actresses. But if there is one thing that my parents and I often discuss while talking about all things Bollywood, it is the fact that how so much has changed over the years. Something Raveena Tandon recently talked about in the latest episode of The Live Laugh Love show with Shibani Dandekar.

The woman ruled the box office and hearts, especially after having acted in back-to-back blockbusters and setting the industry on fire after her iconic song Tip Tip Barsa Paani, is probably one of the very few who still continues to be as loved and desired. Making an appearance on the Love Laugh Live show recently, the Raveena spilled the beans about a lot of things – from her marriage to her acting career, and a whole lot more.

Raveena Tandon, who had given Bollywood some of its most recognised films from Andaz Apna Apna to Dulhe Raja, has acted with the best of actors like Akshay Kumar, Govinda and Shah Rukh Khan. And during one such conversation about her co-actors, the actress revealed how SRK thinks that she is one of the best scented actresses there is. She said, “Every time we are together, socially or somewhere he tells (Raveena’s husband) Anil (Thadani), you have the best-scented heroine as your wife. He says every time when I used to work with her, I’d usually come close and take a sniff of her scent” and even while reading it, we are blushing, and imagining what it would be like to have the King of Bollywood sniff you and take notice of your scent. I would give my left limb for that.

Moving on to discussing how different her era of Bollywood was from the current scenario, considering there was no social media back then, she gave a response that has probably been the best takeaway from the show. She said, “In the 90s, the saddest part was that we didn’t have social media, so we could never put our cases across. Whatever the headlines said or whatever the controversies that were created or whatever was flashed was what remained in people’s minds. There was no way that you could clarify yourself.” And we do agree with her. Back then, which people often call the simpler times, were also equally steeped in controversy and patriarchy, but was just left uncontested and unattended.

However, when asked what would happen if she had social media back then, Raveena Tandon said, “In those days if I had social media, my god, I would have taken the pants off so many people,” and for a second there her statement was enough to make us want to hit time travel and see just who would’ve been scrutinised. We also hope that actresses who now do have the privilege of social media, take down notes from the veteran actress and consider taking the pants off of those they can, considering the need for it now seems paramount.

Guess, Raveena Tandon has made a step up from Akhiyon se goli maarna and has moved on to using her words as bullets too!
