Rajasthan Teacher Undergoes A Gender Change Surgery, Gets Support From His Student-Turned-Wife
We live in a country like India where the LGBTQ+ community faces a lot of backlash from people around. They are called names, beaten, harassed, etc. However, despite that, there are many who openly express their sexuality and fearlessly face the world. Sometimes, they are alone in their journey, and other times they are lucky to have someone they love by their side. Just take the instance of this teacher from Bharatpur, Rajasthan who underwent a gender-affirming surgery and married his student – who always supported his choice and even went along with him for the surgery.
Yes, a teacher named Aarav Kuntal from Bharatpur in Rajasthan underwent a gender-affirming surgery also known as a sex reassignment surgery. He had his first surgery in December 2019. After his surgery, he went ahead and married Kalpana, who was his student.

When speaking to a daily, Aarav Kuntal said that he always wished to change his gender and that he received a lot of support from Kalpana during that time. Even she admitted that she loved him for who he is and would have married him even if did not have the gender-affirming surgery.

Kalpana professed her love for her teacher by saying, “I loved him from the beginning. Even if he had not done this surgery I would have married him. I went along with him for the surgery.” The two of them are now happily married and live a complete life.
Other than the teacher, a senior IPS officer in Odisha also underwent a sex reassignment surgery in August. They underwent the surgery in Delhi after their parents gave consent. The parents have even started the official process to change their name and gender. For those unversed, a sex reassignment surgery or a gender change surgery, or a gender-affirming surgery is where a trans person’s sexual characteristics are altered to accurately reflect their gender identity.
