Raghubir Yadav Hasn’t Been Paying Alimony, Claims Wife. The Couple Has Been Living Separately Since 1995

Divorces can be really messy. Especially if it’s with a person you’ve given up your dreams for. And that doesn’t change if you’re an actor like Raghubir Yadav. But there are some who handle divorce with integrity and respect. And on the other hand, there are some who completely ignore their responsibilities towards their ex-partners. More often than not it is the women who suffer the most from divorce. Not just because society always believes them to be wrong but also because most women aren’t allowed to be independent – whether it be financially or otherwise. And Raghubir Yadav’s ex-wife opens about how hard the journey as a single parent has been.

Recently, Raghubir Yadav’s wife Purnima Kharge in her latest interview revealed that Raghubir Yadav has not been alimony and has even blocked his son’s number. The couple got married in the year 1988 and have been living separately since 1995. The couple even has a 30-year-old son.

While speaking to a leading daily, Raghubir Yadav’s wife Purnima Kharge stated that “Last year, there was a point where I was unpaid for 5 months. This delay, in turn, cost me my house in Yari Road. I couldn’t pay the rent in time and had to face humiliation. Thereafter, I am living on loans. Also, I had to mortgage my gold. This year too, I went unpaid for 4 months. Two months before the date in court, I was given ₹80,000 which was for 2 months.”

Defending Raghubir Yadav’s case, his lawyer Shalini Devi spoke to the daily and opened up about the fact that Purnima Kharge has been asking for an exorbitant amount and that is the reason why the alimony case has been going on for years now. She also added that Raghubir Yadav is 71 years old and Purnima Kharge needs to show some understanding.

After 15 years of separation, it was last year that Purnima Kharge filed a divorce petition with Raghubir Yadav. She has also been claiming that he has committed adultery and desertion. In her petition for divorce, she has revealed that she left her career as an international Kathak dancer to support Raghubir Yadav’s career when he was struggling in Bollywood. She also added that he had “deserted her for other women after becoming a successful actor.”

And while Raghubir Yadav has not commented on the allegations by Purnima Kharge, the case of the alimony is still ongoing. It is so sad to see that two people who were once in love with each other and wanted to spend the rest of their lives together are now making their private matters public. The fact that she left her career for him needs to be acknowledged and reparation should be provided.
