Pope Francis Says Women Will Have A Say In Appointment Of Bishops In Vatican
The role of women was very limited or can be said non-existent in the Vatican before Pope Francis was appointed as the bishop. But ever since he assumed the seat, he has brought about some radical changes in the Vatican that were not expected before. In what comes as a piece of surprising news, Pope Francis has said that two women are now going to be appointed who would have a crucial role to play in the appointment of the bishops. This is quite a welcoming change, to be honest. To have women voice their say in the appointment of men is quite progressive!
Vatican To Appoint Women
As per a report by Vatican News, Pope Francis has not made a public announcement about this but rather spoke to Reuters. He was questioned about the presence of women in the Vatican and in response to this, he said that he is open to the idea of the same. He also added that two women are appointed to the commission to elect bishops.

Furthermore, Pope Francis also revealed that he sees a possibility of lay people or common people being appointed to head a couple of Vatican departments namely ‘Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, the Dicastery for Culture and Education, or the Vatican Apostolic Library’. He also went on to recall that Sister Raffaella Petrini is one of the two sisters who have been appointed to the commission.
