PLFS Data Shows Mizoram Has More Women In Senior-Level Position Than Men

Let’s all agree that even today, in 2022, we women have to fight to get jobs that are higher in designations. And yet after fighting through all the stereotypical comments and putting up with the judgemental looks, we’re still not “good enough” to lead a team or become a CEO of a company. There are still many states in India where the woman-to-man ratio in senior jobs is shockingly low. However, it is Mizoram has the highest ratio of female to woman workers who are at higher designations – 70.9%. And this is true that the majority of northeastern states, except for Nagaland, have an extremely strong woman to man representation in senior-level positions.

The latest additional data in the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) for July 2020 to June 2021 showed that Mizoram has the highest ratio of woman-to-man workers who are working as senior officials, managers, legislators, etc. In fact, the highest proportion of women occupying managerial positions is in the state.
